My Reading Coach

Student Comments on My Reading Coach
(Formerly "Larrabee's Bridge to Adult Literacy™")

"I can read more. I definitely write better. It has improved my grades a lot. Before I couldn't read that much; I would just use words that came to my head and try to make sense. Now I don't do that."

- Alexia, age 11, native Spanish speaker

"In school you are made fun of. Here you're one on one with the computer, and nobody can hear a word you're saying. He never said anything to discourage you. He would tell you if it was not correct; he wouldn't say, 'You're wrong.' What he said was, 'Great, correct, awesome.' It gives you encouragement to do better."

- Randy, age 16

"Before I did the [My Reading Coach] program, I was afraid to read in class. Now I am not because I know that I can get the word that I am having trouble with if I just take my time and do what Larrabee's has taught me to do. I think that [My Reading Coach] should be in all classrooms around the world."

- Joe, age 13

"When I started My Reading Coach, I could only read 2 or 3 words. Now I can read three sentences by myself and I'm only at lesson 24. I think the program is pretty easy, but you must listen very closely. Mr. Larrabee is really pretty funny. I like his comments; they encourage me to do better. I would recommend this program to any child with cerebral palsy who wants to learn to read."

- Alison, age 16

"I think that [My Reading Coach] really helped me a lot. It helped me so much that now when my niece wants me to read a book to her, I can say OK. I can do it. The program was hard to do, but when you got to the end of a level, you felt so proud of yourself."

- Joseph, age 16
