"It works for all kinds of students. It's good because it's totally individualized and self-paced. I've used many different reading programs; this is by far the most effective. Kids see how much it helps them. When they couldn't use it for a week, they missed it. My kids think all students should use Larrabee. It doesn't review things that they already know, which is what happens with most textbooks. It analyzes what they don't know and pounds on that and fills in the gaps. Students increased their reading skills by one to four grade levels in school formal and informal assessments. "You can see the difference in their reading, but more so in their self-esteem. The kids help themselves. You can open up any page in a book and have them read. They'll say, 'Sure, I can do it.' I would recommend Larrabee because I find that it fills in the missing gaps in the students' reading abilities. For those finishing the program, we see a two-year (or more) increase in reading grade level.

"They feel better about themselves; their self-esteem improves, especially when they can tackle a big word like 'strabismic' and can read it and spell it. I like the fact that they can work one on one with me every four lessons. They aren't just stuck on a program. The TABE scores have gone up - some showed a little growth; some dramatic growth.
